Milan in March
Hello,
I'm going to be in Milan from march 19-21. What should one get up to in this lovely city? Is the airport far from the city? Our flights take us to MILAN/LINATE airport. I've booked a car we're staying here: Best Western Hotel Major Milan Viale Isonzo, 2, Milan 20135 Anyone have an opinion on the hotel and driving in general through this part of the country? We don't intend to travel far from the city. We may even only use the car for travel to and from the airport. |
If you aren't going to wander far from the city, and if you have no specific plans to do so, there might not be any reason to rent a car. Milan is a difficult city for driving around, and there is plenty of public transportation available. I think I would prefer to take a shuttle or taxi from the airport to the hotel, then use public transport while in the city. Cost of a rental car for only a few days can also be much higher than on a weekly basis. Good luck.

I second Wayne on the Milan being confusing to drive in. Also, if you do have a car, your hotel will likely have a valet that takes your car to a garage. You need to make sure to request your car well in advance as I have waited for 45 minutes or more for the car to arrive.
My wife absolutely loved shopping in Milan for clothing, shoes, handbags, etc. |
Thanks guys. The car wasn't expensive. including all insurance and taxes it was only €70. But if it is going to be difficult to navigate the city I might just take your advice and not bother with the car.

Transportation in Milan is very convenient. Don't bother with a car. You can get anywhere you want on the train or metro.
Shopping. Happy Hour. Clubs. Shopping. Dining. You will have fun! |
