Milan Hotels
 

Am wondering if anyone has stayed at either the Hilton Milan Via Luigi Galvani 12
or the Doubletree Hilton Via Ludovico di Breme 77.
First trip to Italy and Milan is our first stop after a long flight and plan to stay three nights in Milan. We have some points to use for the stay. Would appreciate any comments especially comments on the location of each place as well as safety and ease of getting around.

In terms of location the one in Via Galvani is much better situated in that you have easy access to the Central station and thus connection to two of the subway lines.

What about the area, if it is that close to the train station is it a safe area??

I've stayed in the area immediate to Milano Centrale several times (Le Meridien) and it is perfectly fine. While I really enjoyed staying around the corner from the Duomo, money is always a factor for me.

Where your hotel is there are a number of 5 star hotels so it is a pretty safe area especially during office hours. If you go out for dinner in the centre then I would suggest you consider taking a taxi direct back to the hotel. Taxis in Milan are not that expensive for short distances.

Avoid, however, the square directly in front of the station as it is well known for bands of pickpockets - generally children. But as always if you are sensible and alert as well as not presenting yourself as an obvious target then there is nothing to be concerned about.
