Milan Hotel Recommendations? 2*-3* near the station

DH and I will be flying in to Milano, dropping off luggage and catching a train to Torino for a day at the Olympics. (Feb 22, IIRC)

We also plan to see the Last Supper and little else of the actual city. We'd be leaving for Carnavale in Venezia on the 24th.

We stayed at the Spadari al Duomo last trip and LOVED it, but we are looking for someplace a bit "leaner" than a four star. Any recommendations for 2* or 3* hotels near the train station? we are good walkers, so the walk or tram to Santa Maria della Grazie isn't a big concern.

See my post on http://www.fodors.com/forums/threads...p;tid=34639022 just last week, I think.

Best wishes

Thanks, Rex! I know it's a common Q here, but nothing came up when I searched.

Gratefully going off to hone her search techniques,

There isn't something with your search techniques. The "search" engine is suffering from lack of indexing - - now in its eighth week.

See http://www.fodors.com/forums/threads...p;tid=34613284 - - and numerous other similar threads (which you cannot find by searching!)

I could find this one only because I knew that I contributed to it recently.

In fact, it's become a "strategy" almost - - if you see a thread you think you might like to read again - - post on it - - that way you're closer to being able to find it by "click on your own name".

Perhaps you would be willing to e-mail a copy of this thread to [email protected]

The more voices they hear from, the better (maybe?)

Have just done so, and thanks for the heads-up about the indexing.

I'm a librarian, so I should KNOW how to do a web search, eh?
