We're staying at Hotel Spadari al Duomo for one night in August, and the price is just under $300 for the night.

The hotel has received very favorable reviews on the forum and is listed as no. 2 in Milan on tripadvisor.com, if you believe that stuff!

Good luck!

Hotel Spadari al Duomo is great. The location is perfect and the staff is wonderful. Our room was quite spacious and nicely decorated.

A third vote for the Spadari.

I can also recommend the Spardari. However, for a 12-hour/overnight stay in Milan this October, I've booked the Star Hotel on via dei Bossi for well under $200. It's more of a business-type hotel, so the charm factor is low, but for 12 hours I just wanted clean, quiet, efficient and cheap(er).

I would add that we've been to Milan several times before, and the overnight on this trip was unavoidable. So, charm was never on the wish list.
