Milan Duomo still covered in scaffolding?

Has anyone been to the Duomo recently who can tell me if it is still under scaffolding? When I was there 2 years ago, the entire front facade was covered. I will be taking a train from Naples to Switzerland, via Milan and am thinking about going to see the Duomo again. It took my breath away the first time I saw it and I would love the opportunity to get a better look at it!

I was there September 2 and the front was still covered. The sides and back are clear. Also, you now have to get your purse checked going in and the back of the church is off-limits. There are signs along the side telling tourists to stay out unless you are lighting a candle or confessing. Quite a different experience than I had in 2000.

It's like the say in Italy - many times the scaffolding has been up so long that it's become a part of the facade!

Ashlynn... How funny that this morning I was thinking I had to post this same question?

From reading summer trip reports I knew it was covered, and wanted to know what we'd see late October.

The scaffolding doesn't interfere with going on the roof, does it?

The Scaffolding doesn't interfere with going on the roof, apart from at the end where the scaffolding is, as I imagine you would have a better view over that end if it wasn;t there, but the roof is so big it doesn't matter.

I felt like some sort of cat burgler clambering around on the roof it was excellent

Thanks for the replies. I am slightly dissapointed, but not surprised. I think I will probably make the stop anyway, as I was so impressed the first time.
