Milan and trip length

How much time do you think is necessary to see the main sights in Milan? Would 1 1/2 days be enough, or is this really pushing it?

Hi

My wife and I went to Milan (and Venice) in June 2003. We stayed in Milan 3 nights and it was nice to not rush around to much. I have posted a trip report with some pictures on my homepage http://gardkarlsen.com. Maybe you can find some useful information there to be able to plan your stay in Milan :-)

To paraphrase WC Fields, "I spent a week in Milan one day." : )
But seriously... I spent three months in Milan several years ago. It's a lovely city and I never ran out of places to visit and side trips to take. But if you're just looking for the main sights in the city proper, I think two nights is plenty. Especially if more would be at the expense of another town.

I spent 4 days in Milan recently - pull up my trip report by clicking on my name. If I had not shopped so much 3 would have probably been enough...but the shopping is part and parcel of Milan's charm to me! I think 1.5 is really pushing it - you will barely get a chance to experience the city.

Personally, I wouldn't recommend more time than that. Of all of the Italian cities we visited, we liked Milan the least. I do recommend seeing the Last Supper painting (reservations in advance needed) and the Duomo (spectacular!!!!). Other than that...we didn't care for Milan.
