Milan Airport to Linate Airport?

Need some advice. Arrving early AM at Milan (MXP) airport. Need to transfer to Linate (LIN) airport for flight to Rome. I know there is a shuttle bus that takes 1 hour 15 min.

Does anyone know how often it runs? Would 2 people do better by cab? Any suggestions for easy transfer after overnight flight will be appreciated. Thanks!

I assume that you were not able to book one of the direct MXP-FCO flights, avoiding the trek to Linate airport.

The MXP-FCO flights I have found run $300 vs. $150 Lin-FCO RT. Do you know of any low cost carriers from MXP to Rome (Other than ALitalia, Lufthansa)?

Steve, thanks for the info. I checked the airport website, too. Do you know the duration of the shuttle ride? I am trying to book flight to/from FCO to LIN and need to know how much time to allow. Thanks for your help.

We took a cab from Malpense to Linate due to a mix up by the airlines on which airport our plane left from. Of course they never notified us of the change and we had out cab driver going 100 mph to try to get us to Linate in time. It was $100 US for the cab ride and it look about 45- 50 minutes - going extremely fast!

Checking the Malpensa web site, I notice that Alitalia operates most of the flights from MXP to FCO. The competition leaves largely from LIN. The shuttle bus schedule indicates the transit time from MXP to LIN as 75 minutes, but I would allow 90 minutes, plus requisite time to check-in. To be safe, the departure from LIN should be at least three hours after the arrival time at MXP. Bear in mind that both airports are subject to severe fog delays during the winter season (particularly in the morning hours).

Pat, what city are flying from? Can you not fly directly into Linate? I know that KLM has flights to Linate from Amsterdam and I believe that many of the other major carriers fly into Linate as well.
