Milan, accomodations??

We are flying into Milan on October 6 and
we are looking for a centrally located Hotel,
and a nice ambiance. Also we are going next to Lake Majorie and also in need of a Hotel
facing the Lake. What other areas around
the lake we should visit? Any recommendations??
Thanks.

In Milan, check out Hotel Spadari Al Duomo, which is very centrally located.

What town are you staying in on Maggiore? We stayed in Stresa, at Hotel La Palma, which is on the main boulevard facing the lake. I'd highly recommend the hotel, as long as you get a lake view room. You can take easy day trips from Stresa to the Borromean Islands by water taxi, and there's a day long boat excursion to Switzerland.

Thank You, Weadles, for the information,
I am going to check the Spadari, and
also the La Palma. Your suggestions are
helping me a lot.

Hello MNPAGES, unfortantly the hotel I loved in Milan right across the small street from LaScala Opera House is no longer a hotel (a Fodorite checked it out for me). That area is wonderful to stay in and I know you will enjoy it.

I also love the Hotel LaPalma in Stresa..and I hope you can get a room in the front with a view of Lake (Lago)
Maggiore. You will enjoy visiting the islands and that area is peaceful and beautiful.
