Milan

Is Milan open on a Sunday ?

sandi_travelnut Dec 1st, 2006 05:13 AM

You mean the whole city?

thit_cho Dec 1st, 2006 06:48 AM

No, if you fly into Malpensa on a Sunday, you wait in the arrivals lounge until Monday, when you are free to leave the airport.

Hi J,

Milan is like most other cities, some things are open and some are closed.

Have you particular interests in Milan.

((I))

No, they have a medieval wall around it which it's closed on Sunday and other festivities ...you have to call the town mayor and ask for the key LOL

What do you want to see ? that's the real key :)

john44 Dec 1st, 2006 07:47 AM

It would be interesting to meet the Mayor, have you his phone number ?

Do you think he could arrange for the majority of shops to be open, and the museums ?

Do you think I should email him in advance ?

Thanks for being so sarcastic !

Yes, I know I was being sarcastic, sorry if I offended you. But your question was rather funny to me. I've been in Milan on a Sunday and some museums open , others not, some shops open, most of them not..even some restaurants open and some not.. so maybe if you have a more specific question about what you want to do..I would have given you a more accurate answer. Anyway, I'm sorry because I didn't mean to offend you.

Seems like if we want to go for a long weekend it may be best if we do it midweek.

Hello john, during the week would no doubt be best.

Don't take offense, Fodorites have a great sense of humor and love to tease and your question did cause the humorous answers.

I hope you enjoy Milan, I always have.

I think when you go to Milan might depend, at least a little, on your interests.

Someone recently described Milan as a "Type A" city and implied that other cities in Italy aren't as much so....hmmm..try crossing a street in Rome and tell me those traffic waves are laid back.

Enjoy your trip.
