Thanks for letting me know Tulips. We're all set up and booked but this is shedding a bit of a different light on things. We may end up eating mussels and French fries on the beach. :)

Air Republic remains open, and plenty of other good options for food in the area. Enjoy your trip!

Was pretty much disappointed with restaurants in Belgique
prefer tables in France on the borders. For example "la table de clarance" in Lille. Great choice |
That's quite a generalisation, how many restaurants did you try in Belgium? In any case we were talking about Cadzand which is The Netherlands.

The topic was dealing with belgium and northern France right ? |
I have to admit that when I drive to Alsace, I pass along the frontier between Beligum and France. I always stop to eat in France. I suspect this is prejudice but I ran a factory on the border once and the staff (all french) would not eat over the border even though it was in the same town and it rubbed off.
Since then I have holidayed in Belgium and found good restaurants in Belgium. So I think this is just a prejudice. |
Bilboburger, I know what you mean about the French opinion of food in Belgium, but have found it has changed in more recent years. It was similar to the view that was impossible to eat well in the UK some years ago. On a lighter note, the waffles in Belgium are amazing.

Don't make me wrong, I love Belgique except for food.
it's not a matter of quality. Eventhough the so called "carbonade" can be well executed it's just too simple, to primitiv for my taste. For me it's a bad version of "boeuf bourguignon" you actually don't have food but you got some kickass beer that still drag me to BXL lol. I actually posted a video on YouTube in a food festival with our food specialities. |
It's like ordering andouillette in France and deciding all food in France is disgusting based on that meal.
I've had some bad meals with terrible service in France. Doesn't mean that you cannot eat well there. |
