Woody Allen earned his 20th nomination Thursday morning from the Writers Guild of America for the WGA Award for best original screenplay for "Midnight in Paris."

Well its not the screen play that blows ones mind,, its the scenery,, I could watch that movie mute and still love it!

cigalechanta Jan 5th, 2012 09:37 PM

The opening is a valentine to Paris!

baishamiss Jan 5th, 2012 09:39 PM

Normally not a Woody Allen fan but having recently returned from Paris, really enjoyed the visuals...And the opening at Giverney's lily pond brought back fond memories.

A 'candy' (or is that 'macaron'?) for people who love the city.

They say it rivals his best movies.

We watched it yesterday and the opening is as cigalechanta said, a valentine to Paris. The storyline is interesting and the scenery is gorgeous. I'd recommend it to anyone who loves Paris.

Yes, I could watch it on mute just for the gorgeous views of Paris, however I did enjoy the characters. The story is a thin skeleton to hang a movie on, but the scenery is stunning and you also need to hear the script. There are some great lines like the future mother-in-law saying "you know what I always say, cheap is cheap." The old writers and artists are interesting, and I think we all know someone like the old boyfriend who thinks he is an expert on everything.

Yes, this is a VERY light story. It's not going to change your life, but it is fun and shows so many sights in Paris. If you have been there, you will have to "pause" the DVD in many places (your favorite street, etc.) and if you haven't been there----I'm sorry, everyone should see Paris once in their lifetime!
