You may well have a bit of difficulty in getting just 3 nights in August, certainly someone else couldn't find anywhere for a short stay only a few days back!
If venere.com doesn't come up with anything, you might try this site, based here on the island... http://www.ischiaonline.it/page.php?...orm&langiol=EN It's a hugely busy month, so don't be too surprised if it's a case of having to take what you can get, rather than what you'd like! For what to dos, and more about the island generally, have a look this stuff of mine, here... http://www.pbase.com/isolaverde/allaboutischia ...and maybe also download the July (giulio) edition of this new visitor magazine... http://www.ischianews.com/it/home/ar...ategory/2.html OK so far? I spent a few nights at this hotel just outside Forio town. It is a lovely and very clean small hotel with a gorgeous. large mineral-water-filled swimming pool and a thermal bath. A favorite of German and Czech tourists but welcoming to all. The bus stops just outside the door so if you do not want to walk to Forio (20 minutes?) you can take a 5 minute bus ride. Also very close to Citara beach. Peak season rates are 67 euro per person with B&B. There is a smashingly good trattoria up the hill, about a 20 minute walk from the hotel.
There is no sea view that I am aware of, from the rooms. http://www.melodie.it/eng/ |
Thanks a ton everybody will follow your advise. Two hotels in Ischia have responded.Villa Pitti for E50 looks good.On the south west side(looks close to Forio).Rooms look good.Good ocean view too(thats what I'm headed there for). The other being Hotel Fantasy- more on the beach, just north of Forio.
I've been to some of the best beaches in the tropics, warm aquamarine waters great diving/snorkelling and so on :),so Ischia, to me, would be a 'scenic' break rather than sun & 'sand' one.Would of course do a spa/thermal.Maybe some trekking. Ekscrunchy:Villa Melodie looks gorgeous.More the type i'm looking for Will contact them.Is it way out.dont want to be confined to the hotel thru the day.thx A_Brit,I sure do realize Aug is a busy month. Will take your advise.I'll freeze my options in 2 days flat. Thanks for the links.Indepth study going on !! Qwovadis, the Florence Spa would certainly be a dream, but a bit out of reach.Admit its peak season.Any leads to a smallish inn/B&B with a view, than a large commercial establishment? Thanks once again for all the valuable inputs.More welcome. |
While we were away recently the TV cameras were here - you may enjoy some of this, which is sure to have got the bookings going...

From Villa Melodie you can walk to Citara Beach with the Poseidon thermal bath complex. I did not go there, but I did spend a day at Negombo, reachable from Melodie by a bus ride of a bout 15 minutes. I would say that one of these would be an essential component of a visit. In the must- be-seen- to- be- believed category.
http://www.negombo.it/negombo-terme.html http://www.giardiniposeidon.it/INDEX2.htm The bus stops just outside the hotel door and runs so frequently that it is almost like a hotel shuttle. But you would be dependent on it to get around, and get to Forio town. |
