MID DECEMBER IN PRAGUE

Hi everyone,

I'm currently planing a trip of 7 (full) days in prague, just a week before Christmas with my wife, as first anniversary celebration.
As we were once before in prague (at summer time), I know that's much more than enough,
so clearly i have to have at least 2 "day trips".

As one of the day trips i thought Dresden would be a good choice.

For the second day trip, I ask you, is cesky krumlov worth the long trip at winter time? I read wonderful things about it, but as i understand, the castle and some more attractions are closed this time of season,
so should i go there, or choose a different destination?

Same about Kutna Hora.

An easy choice would be Karlovy Vary, because it's closer than all the others, but i've heard it is much lesser compare to ck or kh.

Many thanks for the helpers :)

If the weather co-operates and there's snow in the mountains I'd head to one of the towns there and enjoy the outdoors. A full weeks in cities wouldn't be my kind of thing in December (others will disagree, but to each their own). Spindleruv Mlyn is a popular ski resort, you could easily spend a day there riding one or two chair lifts up (and down), do some walking, enjoy the panoramic views ... and have lunch in a mountain hut.

Brno and Pilsen might be options to consider, as well. At the time you are traveling most cities will have their Christmas markets open (Cesky Krumlov included). For CK, visiting on a beautiful weekend day to at least see the castle and enjoy the market would be lovely.

Thank you for comment.

Ingo- actualy im less interested in the snowy mountains, much rather the old citys...

fourfortravel- i havent crossed ck from my list, so if you say it worth the trip, i guess its satteled by me.

Would you say one of the weekend's days be better than one of the week days?
And could you please give me some places to go/activities that are must in ck (kepping in mind that it is on christmas time)?

You could split your time between Prague and Vienna or Prague and Berlin.
But there's nothing wrong with enjoying the city at a slower pace and exploring the restaurants, galleries, and Christmas markets. I wouldn't get bored with 7 days in Prague.
