michelin restaurants outside paris
Which are some good ones w/in 1-2 driving distance of Paris?
In Tours Chateau Belmont, presided over by chef/owner Jean Bardet, has two Michelin stars and is in a lovely setting. The Chateau is a member of the Relais & Chateaux group.
The 1* dining room at the Auberge des Templiers in Les Bezards, close to the pottery town of Gien in Burgundy, is excellent; it and the inn are also members of the R et C group.
Another possibility, north of Paris: Les Crayères, in Reims, long known as one of the very best outside Paris. And definitely Jean Bardet! |
Les Crayeres has slipped. We had a very disappointing dinner there In August that was marginal at best.
But another long-time poster here (and on the BP site) had a meal there in September and found everything up to the remembered high standard. Sounds as though things may be hit and miss these days.
Le Cheval Blanc in Bléré in the Loire Valley might meet your criteria. It's one of my favorite restaurants in France.
A second for the Cheval Blanc in Bléré, but if I were going that far I would get a PREM special and train to La Rochelle and have a meal to die for at Richard Coutanceau (3 hours by train) and relax watching the waves of the Atlantic roll up on the lovely beach with a cognac to end one of the best dining experiences I've had.
