Michelin Map

I will be doing a driving tour of Portugal this October. I have read that the Michelin Map #440 1:400,000 is a good map. I have checked Amazon and it did not list. Does anyone have a suggestion where this map may be purchased state side? I have used Michelin maps in France, Spain & Italy, and I am partial to the layout. Thanks for the help.

Blessings,

This is the one I bought from Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/206..._ya_oh_product

It is not map 440 but it is 1:400,000. It is pretty big and unwieldy.

I have a spiral bound 'Tourist and Motoring Atlas' from Michelin that includes both Spain and Portugal. I purchased it at Barnes & Noble. Although it had enough detail to keep me happy, I found it a little difficult to work with because where I was going was invariably either on the very outside edge of the page (meaning the connecting page was somewhere else in the book) or in the middle of the page and obscured by the spiral binding.

We also had a GPS system (nuvi some-model-or-other) that I rented from AutoEurope as part of the car rental. For the most part, that got us where we were going just about as easily as the map did. There were a few places where it was entirely lost (trying to find our B&B in Sao Romao) and a few places where it didn't do a good job of distinguishing between an alley and a street (but it was the shorter distance!)

I just ordered the same map as Nikki, Michelin #733. I phoned a local book store yesterday, they ordered it from their distributor, and they have it today - they just phoned me that it's come in.

Thanks. I just checked my notes and found the company that carries the Michelin #440 Portugal map. The name of the outfit is Omnimap, if anyone is interested. I think a combo of a good map and gps all should go well. If I get lost then I am sure I will see some cool things. Blessings to all
