Please come back and report on how it works out for you!

OK Robespierre, one more question and then I'll go away...if I decide to get that Dash phone, where exactly do I go to pay to have it unlocked? And how much should it cost? (OK, two questions!)

T-Mo is hit and miss about the policy. I had three phones, two of them new, unlocked in July. If one CSR turns you down, ask another one. |
Thanks!

For what it's worth, I bought my husband the Dash in April because it has Wi-Fi capability and when travelling, he can get on the net anywhere there is a Wi-Fi connection...for free if it's a free Wi-Fi connection. He is not paying for internet service through T-Mobile. I bought myself a Blackberry about a month later. I wish I had bought the Dash.

This is a question for xyz123 or anyone else with the answer.I will be traveling to Portugal the end of Sept. I have an unlocked phone that I used in Europe before and would like to buy a sim card when we arrive at the Lisbon airport. I have some worries that since I don't speak Portuguese I might have difficulty with instructions and portuguese directions and numbers from the phone. Any comments about my concerns?

Thank you for such an informative thread.
A couple of days ago I purchased the Telestial $49 deal. We will be in a cruise going mainly to Spain and France which are 2 of the countries they have as receiving free calls. Then we are taking the ship to the US . During those 8 days the ship is cruisng the Atlantic I'll have coverage via my regular Verizon service. It's expensive, but I just want to have it for an emergency ( leaving my daughter with grandma). I'll report when I come back. |
Well, I know I said I wouldn't bother you guys any more, but here's my new problem...
I was all set to go to wirefly.com and get the Dash that I could use both here and in Italy. However, come to find out, Tmobile doesn't cover my area, so wirefly won't sell me phone (won't send it to an address with that zip code). However, I can go to a store outside my area and buy the Tmobile phone at one of their own stores, and it will work in my area with roaming, which is free. However, the store doesn't offer that free phone with a contract. So I figured I could buy one of their cheaper phones or I'd just have to buy two phones, one for here, and the one from telestial for Italy. However, I just found out that Cellular One does have GSM phones and a plan that might work. It's their Statewide GSM Plan for $20/month for 100 minutes and free long distance. And of course, I would just put in an Italian SIM when I got there. They are available for my area, so it seems like a good plan. Am I missing something? That $20/month seems too good to be true. They also have a prepaid plan for $94.99/year that includes $21 service credit, which seems good. Again, am I missing something. Thanks! |
...the most important thing you have to check is whether the phone is locked...if it is locked only the sim card of the seller will work...so this is a question you have to ask.
|
Ahhh, see I knew there would be something else to check! :-d
Thanks, I'll see if I can find that out. |
Wirefly.com doesn't do rebates any more.
