Metro or Taxi from Gare du Nord to Hotel?
We'll be arriving from London via Eurostar to Gare du Nord Paris on May 16, 2010 Sunday around noon time. What is the best way to commute to our hotel? Taxi or Metro? There's 2 of us with hand carry luggage each. We are booked in Hotel Prince Albert Louvre, 5 Rue Saint Hyacinthe, 75001 Paris. If we take the metro, how do we get there and how long will it take? Thanks for any input.

Expect at least a 20 minute wait for a taxi at that time. We have taken that same TGV on several occasions and that has been our experience. It should not be an expensive taxi ride, once you get one.

Take metro line 4 from Gare du Nord to Chatelet. Transfer to metro line 1 and take it to Tuileries. The trip will take less than 15 minutes. For a map of the wallking route from Tuileries to your hotel, go here: http://tinyurl.com/yfdk8ms.

Taxis are the final option. First there is the metro or the bus. Like ira suggested, take a look at the itinerary planner at www.ratp.fr for public transportation.

The itinerary planner on the RATP site is a great tool! However, when I entered the address of the OP's hotel, the planner recommended taking the metro to Pyramides rather than Tuileries. Both stations are roughly the same distance from the hotel, but the walk is more direct from Tuileries. A bit of zigging and zagging is required from Pyramides. Besides, after emerging from the metro, the OP will be able to get a look at the Jardin des Tuileries before walking to the hotel.
