Metro options - Saturday to Sunday, 8 days

When we have spent a week in Paris previously, we got a carte orange. I think those are no longer used. Can someone give me the best bus/metro option for getting around Paris? I am not sure about our transportation to and from the airport but I know we will be needing to get all around the city. Not sure whether we will go to Versailles or not. Thanks!!! (Do we need a little picture like we did with carte orange?) Merci!!!

They have an electronic card called the Navigo now, but you have to pay for it (5 euro I think). You have to get a special quick one as a tourist, because for locals, they have to wait for it in the mail. It's called Navigo Decouverte. All the info is online on their website with prices, just figure it out based on your usage. www.ratp.fr Yes, you still have to have a photo because they are personal, they aren't supposed to be shared or passed around. Prices are the same as for carte orange, 17 euro a week right now for zones 1-2. YOu can still buy a Mobilis for complete travel in one day for around 6 euro, and you don't need a special card or photo.

The Navigo Decouverte card is active for Monday through Sunday. We usually get that and a carnet of metro tickets to use before Monday.

Thanks! Sounds good. Would a copy of a digital photo work for the Navigo Decouverte?

The Navigo Decouverte replaced the Carte Orange, works the same way but instead of buying a new paper ticket you use for the Monday through Sunday period get an electronic pass on which you load the weekly pass. There is still a separate paper card on which you affix your photo and inscribe your name and pass number. Yes, a copy of a digital photo is fine - that's what we used. Just remember it needs to be the correct size - about an inch square (2.5 cm wide x 3 cm tall) When you first purchase you will get the electronic pass, the paper ID card with an adhesive plastic for laminating after you add your photo and info, and a plastic holder for both.
