METRO in ROME - how early? How far from airport? SHUTTLE from Termini?

Hi,
We have a flight out of Rome on a Monday morning, and we have to be at the airport at about 4:30am. Does anybody know where we should stay (inexpensive, if possible). Or what time does the subway start running? (As far as I remember it was around 6am, so that would be too late, but I'm not sure if I remember correctly.) Is there a direct shuttle from Termini? Thanks for any help you can offer!

I think you should sleep in the airport. I don't know if this is allowed, but if it is, I would do that.

Your hotel in Rome should be able to arrange a car service to pick you up at any hour. Or search in this forum for others' experience with Rome airport car services.
Especially if there are several in your party, the cost would not be much more than the train (if it were available at this hour, which it isn't). And the trip thru pre-dawn Rome will beinteresting and very quick.

Don't sleep in the airport or use a taxi. The airport shuttle is reliable and inexpensive although there is a small supplement for night pickup. You can book on-line or by phone when you get there. See: http://www.airportshuttle.it/

Hello Julie,

The train doesn't start early enough for you, - but there is a night time bus service to the airport from Tiburtina with a departure at 03.45.

Hope this helps ...

Steve
