Metro help for family members!!!

My aunt and uncle are going to be traveling to France soon (this week) and are staying out at Dislneyland Paris with their timeshare. They need help figuring out what the best deal would be for traveling from Disneyland Paris to Paris for day trips. They will going in to Paris everyday. I suggested the Carte Orange but have seen on the boards that they are being phased out. You guys have really helped me out in the past so I thought the first place to turn would be here for help. What would be the best option for them and whatever option it is, could you please give detailed info on how to purchase it. Thanks so much.

Michel, I think your link just opened the Europe forum rather than getting a specific thread....

The Carte Orange as a paper card & ticket is being phased out but is still available in some stations.... otherwise the very same pass is now available as an electronic card pass for the same travel periods (Mon-Sun) and prices, + a one-time fee of 5€ to buy the electronic pass (which is reloadable).

So you can still buy the passes but it might be given to you in a different form. As I said above, only usable from Monday-Sunday. Can be purchased from Thursday prior to the Monday it's valid for, and thru Wednesday of the week it's valid for. Buy at any major metro or RER station (with a ticket window); credit cards accepted. For DLP, a pass covering zones 1-5 is needed.

Prices and info about other passes and tickets are available at:
www.transport-idf.com (see English link).

There isn't any way you could save much doing that as RER tickets don't cost that much to begin with. Disneyland is in zone 5, so one-way from central Paris is probably only about four euro total.

So do you think a one-way RER from DLP each time the travel to or from Paris is the best option? I thought it would be best for the carte orange? Am I missing something? Thanks for the help guys.

A CO for Mon-Sun (7 days) for 5 zones is only 32€. A one-way ticket from DLP to Paris, and back, is 6.30€, so 12.6€ for r/t. What happens with this ticket when you have exited the RER or metro in Paris? It is no longer valid. With the CO, you have full use within Paris, multiple trips b/t DLP/Paris (if necessary) and it costs only 3 days' worth of individual RER tickets.

Note that the zone 5 RER tickets can be bought as a 'pack', I presume what is called a carnet' for the reduced indiv. price of 10€ r/t, but the CO. still beats that IMO.

A 5-zone Mobilis is 12.50€ per day - once you've spent 3 days, the CO. becomes the best priced. The caveat is - will their visit coincide sufficiently with the validity period of Monday-Sunday to make it useful?

I agree that you should load a Navigo with a 5 zone option -- then you won't have to worry about paying extra for any trip anywhere, whether it be Versailles, CDG, Fontainebleau or anywhere else in the metropolitan area.
