metro from athens airport to hotel

Hi All

We fly into Athens on May 15th and our plan is to take the metro to our hotel (The Attolos). Can anyone give me more concrete directions on how to do this? It sounds like the tickets will be $12 euros for 2 (correct?) and I know we have to validate our tickets before getting on the metro (will it be clear as to how and where we do this?) Finally what station do we get off at to walk to our hotel? I know it is very close to one but not sure which it is.
One other question. We fly to Chania the next day on Aegean Air. Is it best to take a cab to the airport and does Aegean fly out of the main airport?
Any help would be appreciated.

It's easy. Take the metro to the end of the line, the Monastiraki Metro Station. When you leave the station you'll see Athinas Street heading away from Monastiraki at a right angle, at the stoplight. Walk down 3 blocks to the Attalos.

You'll be validating your ticket before you get on the Metro at the airport in an obvious turnstile situation. Unless the price has gone up the one-way combo fare for two persons is 10 Euro. Single fares are 6 euro, or 2 for 12. Be sure not to get on the suburban rail train by mistake. They arrive and depart side-by-side. Look for the Metro logo to tell you which one to board.

Take the Metro back to the airport, it's a lot cheaper and you'll beat the city traffic. All flights now depart and arrive at the same airport.

My daughter and I did this last month when we stayed at the Attalos and it was sooooooo easy. Just hang a left out of the metro station on Athinas Street and walk down a few blocks through hardware stores, etc. If you want a fabulous dinner, be sure and go to the backside of the the Attalos (go back to station and cut through and turn left on the first street). Then walk to the square area and take a right-go to the second restaurant and enjoy. The best! It was right next door to the restaurant that the hotel recommended that seemed small and not exciting menu items. We ate at the restaurant next door(has white lights all lit up outside with wonderful seating outside) and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and the new friends that we made while eating. We loved the Attalos-great location and price for the money! Go up to the rooftop bar and enjoy the view of the Acropolis.
