Sorry you are all wrong!!! There ARE carnets available for all zones even from CDG into Paris!! It is especially useful for those traveling to zone 4 activities Versielle,Euro Disney etc.

Yes, a carnet is simply a package of 10 tickets sold together at a discount. It's not limited to Zone 1/2 type. I've definitely bought a carnet for Zone 4 to Versailles.

If you have 5 or 10 people travelling together, definitely buy a carnet, whichever type you're getting.

If you plan to use the RATP more than once the day you go to Versailles, there is a better option than buying a carnet. For €8.80 you can get a Mobilis pass for Zones 1-4 that will get you back and forth to Versailles and also unlimited Métro and bus transport for a calendar day.

The Carnet at 10.40 EUR is only good for zone 1 within the Paris center. It will NOT get you to CDG. You can purchase a Carnet of tickets for a Paris - CDG route which is less expensive than buying 10 Paris- CDG tickets. You would ask for: "Un carnet de billet pour un trajet de Paris a Charles de Gaulle). These tickets can be used only ONCE, but work in both directions. So you can use one ticket to get from CDG to Paris and another to go back. Go to http://idf.sncf.com/FR/ for information.
