Metro Cards & Museum Passes

Is it possible to get a metro card in Paris with unlimited rides for i.e. 3 to 4 days. And how much would it cost? Can I use it on the busses too? Where can I purchase museum day/2 day passes? Is there somewhere in NYC I can purchase them prior to going to Paris?
Thanks.

Dear alison

There is no need to buy the museum pass before you go. When you get to Paris just buy it at one of the small museums that doesn't have a line so you can use it and not wait in line at the Louvre and the Orsay.
For more info, here is a website
www.intermusees.com/
It will tell you all the museums the pass is good for.
As for a short-stay metro pass, this is the info I have:
Carte "Formule 1": This ticket allows you to travel as
much as you want during one day. The tariff depends on
the number of zones you choose. For the city of Paris, zones 1 and 2 are sufficient.

Carte "Paris-Visite": This ticket allows you to travel as much as you want during 3 or 5 consecutive days. It also offers you reductions of between 20 and 35% on many of the tourist sites in Paris. It is expensive and only worth it if you will be constantly on the go.

You can purchase Formule 1 and Paris Visite passes that include Versailles and Disneyland.

Or, you can just buy a carnet (car-nay)
a bunch of 10 tickets which saves you about 40% over the price of individual
tickets. These can be used on buses,
the metro, and the RER within the city limits.

Forget the Paris Visit Card. Ive just returned from Europe and bought a card for each of my family. We were there for four days so had to purchase a five day pass which was extremely expensive! It is much cheaper to buy daily tickets. We used the metro etc a lot and still didnt get the value. PS The Louve is cheaper after 3pm, but the lines are enormous! For the few dollars you save, you are better off to go earlier. Think long and hard about museum passes. You have to want to visit a lot of museums to make it worth it.
Good luck
Lisa

In Paris, your best bet for the buses/metro/RER is a carnet (ten tickets). Museum passes are available for 1, 3 or 5 (consecutive days). Both are readily available once you arrive, so don't bother with purchasing either in advance. With a museum pass, you can skip the lines at the Louvre. See www.intermusees.com
