messesge to new posters

I topped several posts (ttt) that had no responses or maybe one because you are new to this wonderful, informative, and fun forum, you must remember the time difference.
1. you live outside the USA
2. you work all day and can't post (not likely)
3. you go to a cyber café
But whatever, remember these posters do not post at the same hours, so if your post is in the a.m. top it where it says reply(ttt)
so the p.m. posters maty help you.

ttt

pakabug Mar 4th, 2006 06:41 PM

I'm comfused. What's ttt? And what do you mean "top it"? I'm new...

Scarlett Mar 4th, 2006 06:45 PM

TTT means To The Top..when no one answers your post, it drops to the bottom of the page, by posting anything, just TTT or an answer, it brings it up to the top, as my answer to you will bring this back up. :)
Welcome to Fodorland.

when you don't get an answer to your post, and it may matter if you are leaving soon, you find your post
and simply click- post my reply- and write ttt or like I sometimes write,
can anyone help

pakabug Mar 4th, 2006 06:49 PM

ohhh ok! Thanks for the tip!

Hi pakabug, what cigal is saying is that if you start a thread and some hours go by and you do not get any responses to your thread your thread will drop down the list. Go to your thread and type TTT (which means "ToTheTop") and that will automatically bring your original post to to the top of the list. Say your thread has dropped to # 89 because of all the new threads, typing TTT and clicking "Post My Reply" will bring your thread up to #1..at least for awhile.

The other thing that cigal is calling to everyones attention is that there are posters here from all over the world. For those that do not know the time shown for each post is US Eastern time (for example 3 hours later than we have here in the US Pacific time)..6 hours earlier than say a lot of countries in Europe.

To find your posts or new threads just click on your name to the left of the Welcome sign which is on the upper left of your computer screen.

OHH, thank you Loveitaly for my ineptness. :)

cigalechanta Mar 4th, 2006 07:02 PM

loveitaly's post should be put in Q&A.

LoveItaly Mar 4th, 2006 08:30 PM

Hi Mimi, think all of us were replying at the same time! It took me a few weeks when I first came on to Fodor's to figure out the TTT and also to figure out that the time was US Eastern time. Take care dear one.

^^^

it doesn't have to be words anything put as a reply will move the post to the #1 spot for a second 'til the next new post or reply comes along.

Too funny. I had searched all the text dictionaries trying to figure out what ttt meant. Finally assumed it was an inside joke.
