I heard that in the U.S. they are no longer allowed to say Merry Christmas. Apparently, they have replaced it with Happy Holidays or Season Greetings.

Dear Inga and Uncle Sam,
It's not that all Americans are not POLITICALLY CORRECT. Actually, it's that all Americans are not CHRISTIANS. It's fine to say Merry Christmas to someone you know is Christian. But it's also nice to be inclusive in a multi-cultural society. I say more power to the generic greetings! And to those of you celebrating Christmas, Merry Christmas!

ann Dec 24th, 2002 07:18 AM
Actually, I am Canadian, and here in Canada we are sooooo politically correct. You don't see Merry Christmas anywhere. But I find that when I tune into US television, they say it quite a bit.

So;

Merry Christmas to all!!!

Afterall, isn't that what the 25th is really all about?
Tom Dec 24th, 2002 08:33 AM

I am an atheist, but I say Merry Christmas. To the best of my knowledge, there is no other holiday tomorrow besides Christmas.

Christmas embraces many people other than Christians.

Labor Day need not be observed only by unionists.

Veterans Day is not just for veterans and their families.

The birthday of Martin Luther King, Jr. is not just for the descendants of slaves.
P.S. by the way, the US is not a multicultural society. From whom do you get your talking papers? Katie Couric? MSNBC? ABC News? CBS News? CNN? The USA is a CHRISTIAN nation and it's just that CHRISTIAN nation that affords the FREEDOM to come here and live out your life free from all oppression. Enough of the PC crap. MERRY CHRISTMAS. You want everyone to come here and then change the phenomenon into multicultural. We are all Americans. Period. That's the common link.
