Menorca or Mallorca

Hello. Help please. I have been to Spain a lot but never to the islands. We are a family of 5 ( 3 older teens). It will be 5-6 days towards the end of June. Where would you go? We like the beach, exploring, restaurants, the outdoors, maybe even a boat/sail trip. We do not want to fight the crowds. Last summer, we were in the Ligurian Coast for a few days and loved it. If there is any history that would be a plus for one of us. I would love the ideal airbnb and/or hotel and being able to enjoy the town/water/beaches/beautiful sights. I need all the experts to chime in!! Thanks.
I am trying to book things now.

Menorca is the "quiet" island; Mallorca extremely busy in June, especially in Palma. We have escaped the crowds in the Tramuntana, the northwestern part of the island. For beaches there, we enjoyed Port de Sóller (taking the antique trolley from Sóller). From the port one can take several boat excursions. We also spent time further north from Pollença to Port Pollença. Other regular Mallorca visitors here who have holiday homes or who go very frequently can advise you in greater detail.

Must it be Mallorca oer Menorca?
Formentera is rahter calm and has the best (usually not crowded) sandy beaches of all 4 Islands.

Thinking Menorca-- where on the island should we rent a home? Thanks

The beaches on the Southern coast are beautiful and often crowded; those in the North are usually less crowded.

A day trip from Menorca to Mallorcaby car is possible from May onwards (in May except Monday and Tuesday).
Go by rental car to Ciudadela, arrive there at 6.30am and take the 8am car and passenger ferry to Alcudia (Mallorca) ar 9.00.
Go from there to the places you pan to visit in Mallorca.
Arrivve at Alcudia at 6.30pm, board the 8pm by car and passenger ferry and arrive at Ciudadela at 9pm. Drive back to your accommodation.
The RT ferry ticket fares for 5 pax and a car start at 1200 USD..

We've actually done both, we split it one summer and used the ferry to go between Mallorca and Menorca, which was pretty smooth and kind of fun as part of the trip. Mallorca is amazing for variety, mountains, many restaurants, but it did feel busier overall, especially around the popular areas. Menorca on the other hand felt way more relaxed and closer to that Ligurian Coast vibe you mentioned. Smaller coves, clearer water.. If I had 5–6 days with teens and wanted beaches &exploring without crowds, I’d pick Menorca and a day trip to Mallorca (the trip is very easy, this helped us figure out routes).

I recommend Mallorca, more specifically Can Picafort

Thanks. Was it really over $1000 to go from one island to the other?
