Menaggio to Lugano

I see from various posts on here that one can travel from Menaggio to Lugano by bus. I tried one of the sites recommended, but it was all in Italian and I don't speak it!

Anyone know how long it takes, and if the bus service is regular? We will be staying in Menaggio for a few days early in September and would like to try and meet a friend in Lugano.

Thank you. Oscarosie.

Try clicking the english at upper right of the sbb.ch website. Then "timetables" at the left, and plug in your two cities. The Swiss are so efficient. J.

Oscarosie - The service is run by SPT. It takes about 1 hour by bus. Here's the timetable:

Hope this helps ...

When we were there last October, we took the bus from Lugano to Menaggio. We got the schedule from the tourist office in Lugano, but the service is Italian not Swiss. We were the only tourists on the bus and enjoyed the ride very much.

If the link mentioned by Steve James doesn't help, try a Google on Lake Como and/or Lugano transportation or ask your Menaggio hotel.

www.sptcomo.it

One way fare is under 4.00 Euros, and travel time is roughly one hour. There are fewer runs on Sundays.

Nice info here, thanks!

Now where should I click on this link www.sptcomo.it
to find the information?

I've already checked out the .pdf link but it'd be nice to cross-check.

A more direct website for the SPT Como service is:

www.sptlinea.it
Click on "Orari"
"Linee Extraurbane"
Line "C12" Menaggio to Lugano

This is year-round, daily (reduced on Sundays) bus service operated by Italian carrier SPT Como. I've taken this bus and can recommend it.

One-way fare is approx. 4 Euros and you should purchase tickets before boarding the bus from local tobacco shops, newsstands or coffee bars.

Thanks GAC. I'll check it out. The wealth of information on this forum is just absolutely stunning!
