the Jules Verne on the Eiffel Tower - hands down. Try the Locomotive next door to the Moulin Rouge - three floors of dancing.

We are just back from a week in Paris. We had our final dinner at Relais Louis XIII. It was wonderful. They give you a couple "free" courses, which is nice since it is very expensive. We had the lamb and the veal, both were heavenly.

I was there 2 weeks ago (and am depressed to be home, thankyouverymuch) and also loved Le Bistrot De Breteuil. You definitely need reservations, though!

I also enjoyed eating my way through Rue St. Dominique--there are many restaurants and bakeries there that cater to neighborhood families. mmmmm

Since you are from LA, maybe you would enjoy Cafe Pont L'Alma. It is right off the Pont L'Alma on Ave. Rapp. Very trendy looking spot, nice food, nice waiters, but a little too sexy as a restaurant for me as a solo traveler. It is owned by the same people who own Fontaine de la Mars on Rue St. Dominique, which is impossible to get into for dinner.

La Fontaine de Mars is quite available for dinner if you make a reservation--even in the afternoon of the day you want. Excellent food and value.

I constantly recommend Monsieur Lapin to people going to Paris. It's at 11, rue Raymond Losserand in the 14 arrondisement (Montparnasse) and it specializes in rabbit. I'm not a big fan of rabbit but it has other wonderful dishes (to die for sea bass dish!). The proprietor pays attention to everyone who comes in. Patricia Wells also used a page and a half to write about it in her book.

I also ate at L' Regalade. My husband loved the terrine and has been looking for one as good since. I had a black ink pasta dish and woke up with a huge swollen eye the next morning so I think I may have allergic to something in it that I didn't know I was, but that has nothing to do with their cooking.

Besides Patricia Wells' book Food Lovers Guide to Paris, I recommend picking up a copy of Sandra Gustafson's Great Eats Paris (used to be called Cheap Eats but people were getting the wrong impression that she meant dives which she definitely doesn't).
