Melk Old Town

Is Melk Old Town worth a visit. We've been to the Abbey before and wanted to know if there is anything else to do.

IME it was just a pleasant small town -if on the Wachau Valley trip I would just walk around it on way to boat dock.

I agree with PalenQ. We were there in November -- the shops and the coffee was pleasant enough, but didn't notice anything beyond that to do...

I seem to remember that we walked down into the town and wandered up to a church which was quite interesting, and then had lunch somewhere in the town.

I don't remember its being terribly exciting but it was quite pleasant.

We stayed in Melk for 5 nights to explore the Wachau Valley - and it's a pleasant town to take a stroll through - but I would not drive 2 hrs or so just to visit the town unless you are visiting the Abbey (which you have already done).
