mediterranean cruise

We have been thinking about taking a Med Cruise but really don't know a thing about what cruiseline to choose-what we are looking for in ships-best itinery-shore trips, etc.
Does anyone have any good tips? Even where to start. We are in our 50s and this will be the first trip to Europe. Thanks in advance.

1. WHERE DO YOU WANT TO GO? italy, spain, greece, croatia???
2. HOW MANY DAYS? there are 7, 10, 12, and 14 day cruises out there. think about spending some time precruise in a city. ie: staying a week in Venice before boarding the Splendour.
3. WHAT CRUISE LINE BEST FITS YOUR PERSONALITY? Check into RCCL, Celebrity, Princess, and HAL (the larger cruise lines) and see what activities, restaurants, amentities best fit your interests.

I think you need to do some research. Make some decisions.

check out cruisecritic.com for reviews and info.

search orbitz.com for cruises that go to the Med. (and their prices . . . that may narrow down your choices depending on your budget).

I went on a 7 day Med cruise on RCCL's Splendour of the Seas that visited Marseille, Villefranche, Livorno, Civit., and Naples. It was roundtrip out of Barcelona where I stayed precruise. GREAT TIME.

It would be a good idea to post your question also in the Cruise forum.

Have taken the Royal Carribean 7 day from Barcelona twice. We travel a lot in europe but took some novices with us once. Great way to see Europe for the first time.
