Medicane heading to Greece, Turkey

Just when you think the world’s weather can’t get any worse. My friends who live in Greece are waiting for it to arrive. Schools are closed. We fly to Puglia this coming week and it is on the edge of the storm.

Wrote to friends today who have retired to Chios, which seems right on the storms' path at the moment. They are battening down and hoping for the best. Fingers crossed!

The weather system is off western Crete right now, and seems to be weakening from what I can tell. I don't think your friends on Chios have much to worry about. Meteo.gr shows winds of up to Force 5 (35 kph) later today, but that is nothing compared to the Force 10 winds that battered the southern Peloponnese.

I too read about the Medicane. Headed to Albania next week and like a tropical storm these weather systems can do a lot of damage. I just hope it literally blows over.

I've said for years that Mother Nature is REALLY PEEVED at us and wants her planet back!

My friend said it was a non-event on Crete but that Athens is bracing for a hit.
