thursdaysd,to be honest I dont know..I was excited that I was able to get two tickets for France for the first week of September, that when I saw the insurance Ad, which cost $24.99, I just clicked at the site.
I could not download because I had PC problems..I need to find out and see what it cover. |
I took a look at the AA site, since I've never noticed an insurance option there before. I didn't get far enough through the booking process to find the details, but I did see that it's sold by some outfit called Access America, not AA, and for that price I rather doubt it has anything to do with medical or evacuation.

The ones that I mentioned above from the article in the ITN June issue are the best I have ever seen. I have been buying Trip Insurance for years. The medical/Med Evac. are the important things for all, any age. The Tip on the kind of policy is the way to go. Even if you add the cancel for any reason is is very inexpensive. I have my insurance for my 6 weeks in Nov/Dec., but will be buying this for my month in May...CSA- FreeStyle Luxe or HTH Trip Protector and Trip Protector Gold plans. Be sure to put in 0 (zero) for trip cost.

I checked the ITN website to see if there was access to the article...no, too early for it to be in archives.
I did scan part of the article for a friend and then emailed it to her. If you are really interested, cdontact me at my [email protected] address and I will forward it to you. Joan |
frequently the rates charged, if at all, are very low; in rome, we received free care at the airport clinic and a hospital clinic; in lisbon, we had to go to the eye clinic at the main hospital, charge was about $15;best to have medical coverage as part of a trip cancel policy and lso to buy a med evac policy like med jet assit which provides transport to the hospital of your choice-like your home hospital and not the nearest hospital which occurs under the typical trip cancel med evac feature. med jet assit has an aarp discount if you are an aarp member and can be bought for a single trip or for a year and covers at least 2 trips requiring med evac.

My husband had a medical emergency on a cruise last year. He was treated after hours in Sick Bay. We were required to pay with a credit card, as they did not accept insurance. Though we had travel insurance, there was a technicality that could have excluded him, so I sent an invoice to our medical insurance company, CIGNA. Initially they paid only part of the claim based on the usual and customary fees. I sent a letter stating that since we were at sea, we did not have a choice of providers, and they sent all but the $50 copay. (I love CIGNA.) It never hurts to ask your provider to pay, especially for emergency treatment.
