Personally, calming my chickens has always kept me, and many other peons, busy at the back of the plane. When I'm not painting or biting my toenails, that is. And as for food, my goat kept eating it anyway, so who cares? Any news that some of us will have to ride on the outside like we do on buses?

I have always felt that there was too much emphasis on eating. It's a 2 hour flight or a 4 hour flight, eat before or after. It's all part of the super consumerism of people having to be fed constantly. Go to the movies; it's not about the film, it's about the popcorn, the sodas, the candy, the hot dogs, the concessions!

And I think alcohol should be banned. For most people flying, it only makes their behavior worse.

The airlines needed to cut flights that weren't making money. Now, they are cutting food services--which this gives them the excuse to do. Maybe NOW they will pay attention to security and lower the top executives' salaries (which are several million a year). The disparity between top executives and employees has been growing crazily. If Congress does bail them out, I hope they add provisions that stop the foolishness.

Ian G...

Perhaps you shouldn't drink, but don't touch my beer.

A friend told me he heard that airlines were stopping food service, so I went out a bought a ton of food for my flight to Brussels last Sunday, along with 2 bottles of water. No problem taking any of this on, and there was FULL food service (including plastic knives). But Sabena's food is the very worst I've ever experienced on any flight, so I'm very glad I had those turkey subs and chips-ahoy.

Of course, it's to cut costs on food. I'm sure most of you know, but the poster who said this would allow airlines to save money on flight attendants is incorrect. The flight attendants are required by FAA to give passengers seatbelt and other safety instructions, help to evacuate the aircraft, etc. Serving as waitstaff is extra. Who wants airline food on anything but 8-hr plus flights anyway?

If it means still operating, take the food off the planes, please!
