Having used the bathroom in the one near the Spanish Steps in Rome several times, I would say a godsend for that purpose alone. Also got a not-bad ice cream cone when I used the facilities once.

Godsend or blight? A bit of a false dilemma. The answer is "C" - Neither.

McDonalds has long attracted a level of criticism that cannot be explained by bad food alone.

McDonalds represents so many of the things that self-proclaimed "progressive" people love to hate - globalization, America, capitalism, corporations, meat eating, freedom of choice, etc.

McDonalds is struggling in the US, but doing quite well in Europe, particularly France. I suppose that one person's globalization and encroaching Americanization is another person's addiction.

European elitists may believe that McDonalds is the enemy, but the majority of Europeans seem to have a different opinion.

Hmmm..... Can not label myself as progressive , my reasons are also not so political or in depth as to make claims of the above reasons .... a tad more simple , it is un-healthy . Do I eat it once in awhile , sure . ( feel gross afterwards ) Could Europe have done without it , yup .

Neither blight nor godsend. They serve cheap, unhealthy food...but there's a place in this world for that too. And they are nothing if not consistent.

They are what they are. Don't like 'em? Don't go there.
