May Weather - How heavy a jacket?

We will be staying in the Loire Valley May 7-18 and Paris from May 18-22. I understand it will be 40s at night and 50s during the day, and possibly rainy. I'm having diffulty figuring out what type of clothes to take (sweaters?) and how heavy a jacket I will need. The weather at home will be in the upper 70s and low 80s, so it will feel even colder than it would coming out of winter. I would GREATLY appreciate any guidance.
Thanks!

You never know what the weather will be. I'd take a light jacket and a fleece vest. If the temps will really be 40s then I would also take gloves.

I can't imagine that Paris will be 50s during the day in late May. Every time I've been there in May I've gone out during the day in short-sleeved tees. Last year it was very hot in Paris at the end of May and I never wore my jacket, even in the evening.

Does it ever get in the 50s in the daytime where you live? If so then you will know what to bring.

BTW - regarding your other posts - no one is going to know what your "previous" post is or what it means. If you posted incorrectly you should have responded on the original post or, better yet, asked the editors to retag and move the post.

We are often in Paris in late May. Some years it's cool and rainy, other years it's hot as summer. You're likely to get a mix of both. I'd advise layers (light jacket/sweaters/scarves/gloves)as well as t-shirts. Enjoy. EJ

Daytime 50s sounds very low for May. 60s to 70s sounds more like it. Evenings and nights can be quite a bit cooler though.
A lightweight, waterproof jacket and a thin fleece will be fine I would think.
It will be 64 in Paris tomorrow!

It is often in the 50s in Paris in May, but more likely upper 50s, not lower. Average closer to 60.

You can also go to weather.com just prior to leaving and get a 10-day forecast. This will help you narrow down the weather conditions during your stay.
