May/June in Portugal - suggestions, please
We had planned to visit Portugal in 2020, but it now looks like late spring will be a realistic option since we've been triple-vaccinated and Portugal has among the highest vaccination rates on the Continent. Here's our current plan:
NY=>Lisbon, then drive directly to Evora for two nights. Hotel: Convento Do Espinheiro Restaurants: Taberna Tipica Quarta Feira D'Iberica What else: Evora Cultural Experience Drive from Evora to Porto for four nights. Hotel: The Yeatman Restaurants: Restaurante Chama The Ribs Blind Tasco What else: Free walking tour Douro Valley tour Food tour Drive from Porto to Lisbon for five nights. Hotel: Pousada do Lisboa Restaurants: Epur Lumi Versiculo Do Faia Tabernario Do Bairra Agulha No Palheiro What else: Free walking tour Small group food tour Sintra These are the basic pieces of our plan, which can be extended or modified as appropriate. We look forward to comments and suggestions. Thank you. |
Day trip to Braga from Porto.
Day trip to Douro valley from Porto. Visit to the port "caves" across the river from Porto, and probably a meal in the Taylor Fladgate restaurant. Visit to Belem from Lisbon, most especially to the Monasterio de los Jerónimos. More ideas for Lisbon (dated, but I think still relevant): https://www.fodors.com/community/eur...lisbon-759058/ |
Several good ideas
Thank you, We already have the Douro Valley and Belem on our list and have noted Braga and the "caves" for our time in Porto. Enjoyed your TR as well, though it's been quite a while since then . . . plus the pandemic.

The Yeaman is not in Porto. It is located in the neighbour city "Vila Nova de Gaia", on the other side of the river. For what I know, it is one of the best hotels in Portugal, and I can assure the views are astonishing, as it is in front of Porto, so the views are kind of a postcard! All the cellars are nearby! But for other actrations of Porto, you must walk, or take a public transport.
