May in Paris

I'm trying to decide on whether to go to Paris for the first 2 weeks in May or June or last 2 weeks in August. I haven't been in May before - any comments on the weather this time of year?

thanks!

Paris is very very nice in May.I have been at that time and in the fall, the flowers are blooming, and everybody is cheerful because winter is over, Paris is wonderful every season, but I would never go in August..I like a/c and it is not everywhere in Paris, a lot of stores/restaurants are closed, a lot of the Parisians leave for holidays.

As with any place in a temperate climate, weather can be very different in one year than the next--hence the info weather sites post on record highs and lows. We've been in Paris in March with kids running around in t-shirts and in May with snow on the ground--admittedly May first, but big slushy snow, nonetheless and the rest of the week was very cold. More than likely it will be nice in May, but take some warm clothes just in case it's not.

I will never go to Paris in august again - never. It's toooooo hot - no air conditioning - many places are closed, and it is just not as fun.

I have been to Paris 2 times in May and I loved it!! The first time it was cool and cloudy one day and hot and sunny the next! Last year it was hot and sunny and humid the first 5 days and cool and breezy the last 5.

Hi Virginia,

I have lived through 2 spring/summer seasons in Paris. May, both times, was mostly rainy. My shoes and socks were always, always wet in May. I would recommend June. The weather will be better but there won't be too many tourists.

My favorite time in Paris is late September, but June is a close second. Have a great trip.

Shel

Paris in August is a bit different than other times of the year because so many French people go on vacation then. Some people like it that way, a bit quieter, others don't. That's up to you. Weather wise, Paris is just too unpredictable to....predict. The coldest we've ever been was the end of May one year when we had to buy thermal underwear. People have been cold in July and warm in October. Their weather is as unpredictable as their strikes. So go with layers to put on or take off and umbrellas....always umbrellas. Hi Virginia,
I was in Paris two years ago in May. The weather was very nice and there are fewer people traveling than in June. and Aug.

I have been in May twice, and it has been lovely. Can I ask another question? I am going again in May this year, and planning a trip for my college students. I have been with tours, but this time I want to do the arrangements myself. Any suggestions, things to remember, things to avoid?
