May 8, holiday in France

We find that we will be in Paris on May 8 which is a public holiday and it appears that the Louvre will be closed. What other closings can we expect? Suggestions?

We were in Paris on May 8, 2007. Some of the smaller museums were closed - you would need to check the websites. We noticed some of the neighborhood stores (grocery, etc.) were closed in the morning, but were open later in the afternoon. We didn't notice any restaurants being closed. Also, the buses run different routes on holidays, so just be aware of that if you are riding the buses. The metro seemed to be running regular routes. The larger department stores are all open and very busy with people shopping on their holiday. Some of the museums are open and again may be very busy as on weekends. We found plenty to do all day long.
