Maxmilian, Josef, Crystal Palace or Golden scissors in Prague
Hello all,
After a long day of research, I think I am down to those four hotels. There is a big difference in price but are willing to oay if it is worth it. we are looking for a hotel that is charming, walkable distance to most attractions and good restaurants, and modern. Also it will be our anniversary, so is any of these a "romantic" hotel.
All help is appreciated

I forgot to ask, is there a site that you recommed (other than venere, for some reason they don't have Josef or maxmilian) for booking these hotels that can offer a better rate than the hotel's website and is also secure?
thanks again

I've only stayed at the Maximilian twice and really liked it, so can't comment on the others. I think they own the Josef, also, so I suppose quality and service would be the same. When I booked, that hotel only had its own booking on the utell hotel website, so that's where I did it (they didn't even list their own email address, as I recall, at least once). It worked out fine. I don't think it was any special rate, though. The Maximilian is pretty popular, you don't see discounts much. However, Prague has tons of various hotel booking sites that hotels cooperate with, it is very much the custom there -- so I guess you'd have to just Google or search around to see some comparisons. like www.marys.cz is one that has been around a long time, but I have no idea if they have the Maximilian. I think they may not deal with any of those.
Venere doesn't list 100 pct of hotels in any city, so it isn't surprising to me they don't have one in particular.

Indeed, the Maximillan and Josef have the same owners, of the 2 I would choose the first. Be sure to go to Chez Marcel next door. In any event I would stay at the Golden Scissors, a great location on Kampa Square and they do have a nice restaurant. Be sure NOT to go to the restaurant next door as they have been known to overcharge. if any of these hotels are "romantic" this one would be. You might try bookings.com
