Maximum Amount of Euro you can take out in ATM's??
 

Can anyone please tell me what the mamimum amount of money I can take out on ATM's in Italy? Thank you.

There is no set answer to that question. First you must answer all of the questions below:

What is the limit on withdrawals set by your own bank? (Usually it can be raised easily if you want)

What is the limit on each transaction imposed by that particular bank in Italy? Some have a 250 euro limit, others seem to have no limit, or at least a much higher one.

Are the maximums imposed by the Italian bank per transaction or per day? Again, there is no set answer. While we received a message at one saying there was a 250 euor limit, after getting that much, we reinserted the same card and withdrew a second 250. At another bank we couldn't do that.

Thanks for the info. I called my bank and i can withdraw upto 1000US per day per account.

Would you know which bank let's you take out a little bit more than 250EU. Sorry if this is a stupid question.

From my experience, most ATMs had a limit of 250 euro per visit.

My bank here in Spain has a 300 euros limit. I think all the bank are on that range 250-300 euros each day.

My limit from my bank was 1000 US dollars a day. The first two withdrawals (in Belgium) I was surprised that I was allowed to withdraw 600 Euro at a time.

If you have a $1000 a day limit, you'll usually be able to get that much - but you may have to go to 2 or 3 ATMs to do it.

And remember, your bank uses its banking day to determine how much you have withdrawn. With the 9 hour time change you might try to withdraw too much during one USA banking day.

I just got back from Italy (amalfi coast & Naples) a few weeks ago.

With a $500 US limit, I had no trouble withdrawing 380 euros at time.

Remember, some banks limit cash withdrawals and card purchases separately. So I use my card to make purchases when possible and use ATMs just for "walking around" cash. That leaves me some leeway if I need more cash later in the day. And it keeps me from carrying around huge wads of cash, which I hate.

(Actually, I love huge wads of cash. Just hate the idea of losing it.)
