Have you watched the Vimeo Hollow City about Matera?
https://vimeo.com/showcase/3078440/video/66169884 Dai posted that in her trip report years ago which is what made me want to go Matera. I just looked back to find it and see she stayed at your hotel too. We both ate at Oi Mari and Nadi. I also ate at Osteria San Francesco up top along with several other places up and down (I've forgotten, but don't remember any bad meals). If you haven't read Dai's trip report, it covers a lot of the area. |
Thanks, ky! I will watch the video when I get a chance. I’ve saved Dai’s TR and have read it, but will review it again, especially when I get closer to the trip. It may’ve been one of the reports that influenced my decision about the hotel, too.

annhig - There is one season of 6 episodes that are between 1h41 and 1h59 each. With dedication and determination, you might see them all during a 7 day trial. However, when you see how much Italian content there is at MHZ, you might be inclined to spring for another month or two. We signed up last December to see the final two seasons of Spiral and are still spending a few hours each week enjoying their European series and movies.

<<We also love MHz but I’m not sure that it’s available in the UK, which is where annhig is. >>
Sadly it looks as if you're right, progol, even with amazon prime. Rats. <<annhig - There is one season of 6 episodes that are between 1h41 and 1h59 each. The BBC usually has an italian "giallo" eg Montalbano or a scandidrama like the Bridge on a Sat night on BBC4, which is where Bill and I found Spiral when it first started [I think his french teacher recommended it] and we quickly became addicted. Now having seen the very last episode [don't worry, no spoilers] DD and I are working our way through it from the beginning. |

progol - there is far more TV than I can possibly watch anyway, so I'm reluctant to pay to not watch some more!
One I was enjoying a lot, before it inexplicably disappeared, was another Italian detective serial called Rocco Schiavone: Ice Cold Murders. For some reason they showed 4 and then took it off with 8 more to go. I was particularly miffed as i was learning a lot of Italian swear words. I strongly advise sticking with Line of Duty - it's a bit of a slow burner. |

Sorry, annhig, that MHZ isn't available for you. I know what you mean about paying for more content than we can see, but we just signed on for Britbox to see the most recent Line of Duty seasons and other British offerings.
Progol, here's hoping that this time your trip goes off without a hitch. I'll be following since Croatia could be in our future plans. |
MaineGG - I'm glad that you can get Britbox. Though we don't have it i'm sure that there's loads of good stuff there including LoD of course. And I will just have to resign myself to not watching Rocco

We stayed amidst the sassi in Alle Conche for two nights in September 2017, before it became a "luxury retreat." Its rehabilitated cave rooms were actually very comfortable. A valet drove our rental car to an undisclosed location after we dropped off our luggage, and retrieved it when we checked out. The manager arranged a couple of Tuk-Tuk tours for us, and we also set off on foot on our own a couple of times. Matera was one of the most remarkable places that we have ever visited.

Well there's an offer I can hardly refuse, Dave, except that the opportunity for you to deliver this unique education is sadly unlikely to arise in the foreseeable future, as is an opportunity for me to use them! [as if] |
Allora, carissima Ann, you must enroll in my video course.

Quando commincera, Dave? E quanto costa?
