Marville's Paris Photography exhibit

Here is a link to Susan Stanberg's report today of an exhibit at the National Gallery of Charles Marville's photos documenting "old Paris" during the time of Haussmann's construction of "modern Paris". Wonderful stuff, if you google for his photos also.

On a similar theme, although closer to the end of the 19th Century, the Musee de la civilization in Quebec City is staging a major mixed-media exhibition on Paris as the centre of the new mass culture in La belle epoque. It continues until the end of February. http://www.mcq.org/en/mcq/expositions.php?idEx=w3802
