Martinair Holland - anyone flown recently?

I inadvertently posted this twice on the airlines forum. I am curious as to others experience. Tripadvisor did not have particularly good reviews. Any info provided is greatly appreciated. We have already purchased the tickets, as they were the most reasonable at the time. Just want to know what to expect. Thanks in advance.

What do you mean/ you dont know what to expect? Do you mean service on the plane? Seating etc.

I mean the entire experience. Particularly the seating. I believe the planes are older and perhaps a bit cramped. Is comfort class worth the extra surcharge? How was the service and food? Thank you for any information.

I last flew Martinair in 1996 from LAX to Amsterdam, so my experience is certainly not recent. Comparing this flight to say, Luftansa, I would not say there was much difference in economy class, both are very cramped for leg space and I would rate them comparable, but if you were to ask my husband, he would tell you it was his most uncomfortable flight for leg room. He rates it his most uncomfortable flight ever. I think this may be in part that we shared our three seats with an inconsiderate, heavy man who repeatedly stepped on our shoes and hogged the floor space. However when we last flew Luftansa, I had the same experience with a heavy woman who , unfortunately needed more foot space than the seat offered and used mine, so I was forced into sitting on one side of my already cramped seat. Economy is not luxury; my best and most comfortable flight has been with Swiss Air from LAX to Zurich: it really was a very pleasant flight, all things considered, since flying in general is no great pleasure.

I agree with annetti, depends who is seated next to you, most economy airlines are cramped but then I am 6ft 2ins. so any seat is bad, I always try to ask for a bulk head seat so I can strech my legs.Martinair is no worse than other airlines.

Thank you for the replies and the information. I think we will upgrade for a nominal fee to their comfort class, as I understand there is a bit more leg room. We are not too tall, but it is a long flight. Probably nothing worse than other airlines we have flown. Thanks again for the info.

We've flown comfort class on Martinair, and it's fine. Nowhere near business class, but spacious enough for my tall husband. And they'll give you one of these personal video things for the flight. Sometimes they offer an indonesian meal; take that if they have it; really quite good for airline food.

Correction, it was Star Class that we did, which is better than comfort class. The space in comfort class is a little less than star, but better than economy. And I believe you do get the video thing in comfort class too.
