My plans so far are:
Monday arrive Marseille
Tuesday daughter trains to Marseille from Montpellier
Wednesday check out hotel and pick up car.First question:
What to see between Marseille and Montpellier?
Saturday arrive at apt in Menerbes for a week stay.
Saturday return car in Nice
4 days in Nice before returning home.
2nd questiono we visit Cassis from Marseille?
Looking at the map cities to visit:
Stes-Maries-de -la Mer
Aigues Mortes
before reaching Montpellier.
Still deciding on towns, villages to vist the week in Menerbes.
comments suggestions thoughts etc are welcome

I don't quite understand your itinerary. Are you saying that you intend to drive from Marseille back to Montpellier? Why is your daughter going there to meet you, then? Well, it's not that far, but there are any number of places in-between that you could visit if you want, but how much time do you want to spend on visiting places in-between?
Both Arles and Nimes, for example, are in-between the two cities, and are worth visiting. Of course, there is the whole Camargue area if you want to get into that. I haven't been to Aigues-Mortes, but think some others have said it was worth visiting, also, sure.
From Menerbes, I especially liked Roussillon, and the Abbaye de Senanque, of course (which is just above Gordes). I wasn't crazy about Gordes, but others are.

Christina,
My daughter is finishing up her year abroad studies at Montpellier. She's meeting me in Marseille so we can tour and go back to see where she spent her last year in Montpellier.
Then we'll visit from Menebres some towns .etc.
Is the drive from Marseille to Montpellier difficult ?

Menerbes is the middle of Peter Mayle country. No dearth of charming towns: Oppede le vieux, Gordes, St Saturnin les Apt, Rousillon, Isle sur la Sorgue, Bonnieux, Lourmarin...
I've been going there since I was 17 and have never tired of the Luberon valley, though other places just north of there have since claimed my primary allegiance.
