Thanks so much! I’m planning on the 4 nights - I’m sure we’ll find enough to do. Your report has definitely made me curious about Marseille and now it’s captured the interest of my husband as well.

The cruise sounds fun, but if the water gets too choppy you can bet I won’t want to go, either! We’ll be there in mid-October next year so we’ll just have to see whether the weather will cooperate with us

Again, thanks for the info and the inspiration!

You're welcome, and I hope you enjoy Marseille as much as I did.

Marseille has a depth of character that is hard to match anywhere on the Med. Love the place and loved your photos.

Great photos and trip report! I will probably on have a day or two in Marseille at the end of my trip next year, but now I am really looking forward to seeing it.

As I can see, this is quite an old thread, but I really like your photo essay. But it would be better, if you write more text about it. You see, right now I'm searching for information about traveling. And I need some information about it from a real person, not from traveling companies.

Not sure what you mean by "traveling companies," but real people write those texts. It's usually out of date though. But so is a lot of information on Fodors.

This thread was started on Oct 24th, 2019, 01:45 PM--I would not consider that out of date.

Not this thread, yestravel, I was referring to info provided by "traveling companies" often being out of date. Same with guidebooks. Which is why it's always necessary to check current opening days/times, etc.

What a great report RM67, Marseille has been on my list to see for a while but I think you just pushed it up a couple of notches. Thank you.
We really enjoyed the tv show Marseille.

So excited! As I mentioned earlier, we’ll be there next October. As it turns out, we’ll be there for 5 nights, so we’ll probably do at least one day trip. If the ferries are running and the weather cooperates, a trip,to see the calanques would be perfect. If not, I’m sure we’ll find something to do!

And this was the report that inspired me to go to Marseille precisely because the photos were so striking. I didn’t need “more text” - and there are plenty of words, too! 😉

Thanks again for the kind comments. I hope Progol (and anyone else who goes) will feedback what they thought of the city.
