Marriott Riviera Hotel Cap d"Ail

Has anyone stayed at the Marriott Riviera Hotel Cap d'Ail? It's just outside Monaco.
Thank-you

Ngong,

There have been several mentions of this hotel in threads about the south of France. You might try doing a text search. From what I recall, the pool is smallish. Cap d'Ail is a hill top town (ie not on a beach) with beautiful views. I think there was mention of balconies on rooms facing the water. Sounded good.

I met people who stayed there and thought it was terrific, though I can't recommend it personally. If you're looking for timeshares throught II in the area, we stayed at the Grand Vacation Club in Mougins and it was good--great location and very helpful staff, though not great. I'd probably try for the Cap d'Ali on our next trip to that area. Let us know how it is if you stay there.

Hi,

We stayed at the Marriott Cap d'Ail last summer, using a free Marriott week. We chose it for the location, since we wanted to explore the areas surrounding it. We enjoyed it very much. The hotel is not luxurious, but it is clean, and the service is good. All the rooms have balconies facing the marina. The hotel has free shuttle service, which is a terrific perk. We used it to go to the shopping areas, Palace and casino, aquarium, etc. They would come at get us at any time we specified. It was a great service. There is no beach right at the hotel, but if you walk to the right (facing the marina) there is a wonderful beach about 5 minutes walk away. They have an arrangement with the Marriott, and e paid about $7/day for chaises, umbrellas, and could order drinks and snacks. It was heaven---we loved it there. There is also a wonderful restaurant at the top of this beach. It is outside, casual, and serves great fish. Many locals eat there. If you enjoy looking at the most fabulous yachts you have ever seen in your life, you will enjoy walking around the marina. I can't imagine why anyone would use the pool area. It is like any pool at any cheap motel anywhere. Go to the beach instead, and enjoy the view. And swimming in the Mediterranean. We took day trips to Eze, Nice, Diano Marina, and many other places. The location is great. And you can walk to the commercial center from the hotel for shopping or to have a casual breakfast or a panini. The concierges at the hotel are great about helping with things to do in the area. If you have any further questions, please don't hesitate to ask. We had a great time. What time of year are you planning to go?

Thanks for the reply. We are going this June. What do you recommend to do in Nice?
In Nice we visited the outdoor market on the waterfront. It is usually a flower market, but on the day we went it was an antique market. We also went to the Matisse Museum, as well as a couple of other museums. We were also there in June, and it was very hot. So we spent more time on the beach than we had planned. We really enjoyed Eze---don't miss it. We also enjoyed the Jacques Cousteau aquarium in Monaco. I just thought of the name of the restaurant on the beach near the hotel: the Lampari.

I just noticed Mclaurie's reply, and would like to correct it. The Marriott Cap d'Ail is on the water, right on the marina. There is no beach at the hotel, however. But as I mentioned in my post, there is a lovely swimming beach a short walk away.
