Marriott Hotel options /Paris/using points
 

I think it is final,.... my 18 YO daughter and I are going to Paris for her Spring Break/graduation present.
We have loads of Marriott miles since DH and I travel for work.
My first inclination would be to stay on the Champs Elysees since it is so lavish looking (?) from the website , but from the little bit of research I have started, I know it is in a very hustle bustle obviuouls touristy area. I would rather enjoy a quieter location or even a boutique type hotel.

Would Renaissance Paris Vendome Hotel - 4, Rue du Mont Thabor fit the bill?

I have been to Paris years ago ,I dont want to be in the throngs of tourists at all times. But, also want DD to be thrilled with where we stay.

There is availabilty at both. Thanks for any opinions!!

You both will enjoy the Paris Vendome except for the "cruise ship" size rooms. Better location, boutique like,better clientele, better for American tourists.

I think you will like the Renaissance Paris Vendome. If you have a lot of points you might want to reserve one of their junior suites. You would at least have a small sitting area with a tv. The rooms are small but the location is great.

The restuarant Pinko is very good.

I tried to reserve a suite but they wanted quite a bit of money on top of using points. She and will be cozy!!

I think I'd prefer that location to the one on the Champs-Elysees, also, although I don't think it's a big difference -- both areas are full of tourists. At least it's off the main big street, though. The metro is very close, I think that hotel is at the end near the Tuileries metro. If it's at the other end of rue Thabor, it's very close to the COncorde metro, so either way it will be very close.

Have you checked Marriott Rewards Insiders page? I know that there are quite a few comments on the Paris properties.

We very much enjoyed our week long stay at the Renaissance Paris Vendome. Hubby is plat and we got a nice upgrade so our room did not seem too small, there was a sep tub and shower too. They had a wonderful free brekky for plats (and possibly golds too) and there is a small pool, although we did not use it. Easy close access to the metro, and just down Rue du Mont Thabor was a very nice bistro, L'Ardoise. We had a yummy yummy meal there. It was tucked away just a bit so that it seemed quieter and there was an Irish pub accross the street that hubby enjoyed. i would recommend and it a sort of boutiquey feel. Flyertalk.com has a Marriott section with tons of great info about Marriott properties around the world. Champs location has its big share of fans too!

If you are into souffles, there is a fairly wellknown souffle restaurant on that street also -- called appropriately enough Le Souffle. I haven't eaten there but thnk I've read it's pretty good.
