Marozzi Bus: Rome to Pompeii

There are posts that reference this but can anyone who has actually taken this bus ride please respond with some details regarding the trip? Where in relation to the station is the bus boarded? How full was the bus? Etc.

Thanks in advance…bdj

I've used it. Which station are you asking about? You can book your seats online. It shows which ones are available.

ky--Thanks for responding.

Where is the bus boarded at Tiburtina relative to the ticket counter? Is it easily marked?

How full was the bus? Is it possible to purchase tickets the morning of?

Which day of the week did you travel? Is there difference in capacity between Friday or the weekend?

How comfortable was the bus? Did it have a bathroom?

Were there any stops enroute?

Was the bus on schedule for the trips out and return?

How close to the Pompeii entrance does the bus drop-off and pick-up?

If one were to purchase the tickets the day of, how early would they need to arrive at Tiburtina? How early with tickets in hand?

Thanks in advance...bdj

Tiburtina is a major train/bus/metro hub for Rome. There are bus areas adjacent the train station with one area for Rome city buses and another area for buses leaving for other cities in Italy and other countries. You would have to ask Marozzi where their current location is.

Marozzi sells assigned seats, but whether it's full or empty would depend on day of week and time of year. It was probably only 20% full when I rode last. I think it was a Tuesday, but don't remember exactly.

The bus is like any long distance tour bus. It has a bathroom, but I think it's for emergencies as they make a brief stop on the autostrada. As for other stops, the route is Rome/Sorrento and there are only about 4 stops total - Pompeii, Castellammare di Stabia, Vico Equense. I think there was one more. It doesn't go into Naples.

The drop off for Pompeii Scavi is near the entrance.

Depends on time of year and the bus you are taking. No way of predicting, but in summer, they run two per day (7am or 3pm). Click prenotazione and enter your dates/cities. You can see which seats are taken (if any).

There is also the Curreri bus which doesn't run on Sunday.
