Marco Polo Airport to Rialto boat stop

Can anyone recommend the best way to get from the Marco Polo Airport to Venice? Specifically the Rialto boat stop.

Either water taxi (expensive, but direct) or vaporetto to St. Marks and then the water bus to Rialto (a hassle if you have a lot of luggage).

We did the same two weeks ago. The boat from the airport to San Marco (boat called Alilaguna, 17,000 lire), then vaporetto to Rialto (6,000 lire). Easy. Should take just over an hour.

Hi Hogarth! If you are on a budget and are traveling light (no big suitcases), you can take a bus from the airport terminal to Piazzela Roma for 1,500 lira (orange bus) or 5,000 lira (blue bus). From there, walk to the vaporetto stop (if I remember correctly you may have to go up and down a bridge, but my mind is fuzzy about this). Buy a vaporetto ticket (an individual ticket is 6,000 lira, but if you plan on making multiple trips, you should consider a multi-day unlimited pass). Total travel time should take about 1 hour, less if you happen to catch the bus right away (they depart frequently).

Hi Hogarth, We did as above post. We travelled by car to Venice from the Cinque Terre in 99. We dropped the car at the Marco Polo airport and then took a bus to P.Roma. This was all very convenient. At P.Roma, we took the vaporetto to the stop nearest our hotel. We had a suitcase and small bag each and had to walk a block or so to the hotel. It was inexpensive and not difficult to do. We did the reverse on our way out and flew from Marco Polo home.PJ
