Has anyone been to this resort? What would the weather be like second week of October? Where have you flown into and how long of a drive? Sightseeing opportunities? thanks for any info you can provide.

Marbella Marriott is one of the top resorts in that area and October, with temps in the 65-uppper 70's deg F range is a great time to visit. I've been to Marbella many times and actually would prefer to stay in a more Andalucian destination, but it is a great home base to day trip to many White Towns like Ronda and Mijas, the wonderful city of Granada, some great museums in Malaga. My best advise is that you fly into Malaga International Airport (about 35-40 minutes from Marbella Marriott), either rent a car at the airport or hotel and set out to explore. Get yourself a good map, the Southern Spain coastal roads are very good and will remind you of driving in Big Sur, California. If driving to Ronda, head back early, as Ronda is perched up in the mountains and the drive back can be a bit tricky if unfamiliar with the road. Have a great time!

We've stayed there twice and would go back in a heartbeat. Yes, fly into Malaga and rent a car--you'll need to at this location, but you'll want to. There's so much to do in the nearby area depending on what kinds of things you like. I love art (LOL) and the Museo Picasso in Malaga is a delight as are the white villages and Nerja and Ronda. You can even do a daytrip to Alhambra from there (get tickets on the Internet in advance).

As for the weather--check out weatherunderground.com and do a history search for Malaga.

I've flown JFK-Malaga in Nov for about $500, so for Oct expect to pay a bit more, maybe $550-600. Delta has the more flights, not the greatest airline, but it is a Spanish airline and you'll be paying less taxes on the ticket price. Delta typically connects in Madrid, although some flights connect JFK-Paris-Malaga.

Opsss, I meant Iberia is the Spanish Airline! The other notes on Delta remain as stated. Have a great time in Spain!!
